Your treatment at Blue Point isn’t just about the session; it’s also about how you prepare beforehand and how you support your skin/body afterward. Following these guidelines helps ensure the best result, minimize downtime, and protect your investment.

Pre-Treatment Checklist
Before your appointment, please review the following to make sure you are ready:
- Avoid sun exposure, tanning beds, spray tans, and self-tanners at least 1–2 weeks before any laser or energy-based treatment.
- Discontinue exfoliating/active skincare products (retinoids, AHAs/BHAs, high-strength peels) 3–7 days before treatment.
- Avoid blood-thinning medications/supplements (Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Ginkgo, Fish Oil, Turmeric, etc.) unless prescribed by your physician.
- Arrive with clean skin—free of makeup, lotion, oils, or sunless tanner.
- Avoid any new facial procedures (waxing, threading, harsh treatments) on the area to be treated in the week prior.
- Inform us if you have cold sores, recent sunburn, changes in medication, or significant health events.

Post-Treatment Care
After your treatment, follow these guidelines to help your skin heal and maintain results:
General Guidelines
- Use a gentle, fragrance-free cleanser and tepid water. Pat skin dry—do not rub.
- Apply moisturizer as directed by your provider.
Avoid direct sun exposure; use a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ daily. - Avoid hot baths, saunas, steam rooms, intense workouts, and pools for at least 24–48 hours (or as advised).
- Do not pick, scratch, rub, or exfoliate the treated area unless instructed to do so.
Laser / IPL / Resurfacing
- Mild redness, warmth, or peeling may occur; this is normal.
- Cool compresses may be used if recommended, but avoid applying ice directly to the skin unless directed to do so.
- Makeup may usually be resumed after 24 hours if the skin is intact.
- Avoid exfoliants, active acids, or new treatments for at least 7–14 days.
Chemical Peels
- Redness, mild swelling, flaking, or peeling is expected for 2–5 days (or longer with deeper peels).
- Do not use retinoids, benzoyl peroxide, acids, or exfoliants until healing is complete
- Stay out of the sun as much as possible for 7–10 days post-treatment.
Post-Treatment Care
- Avoid strenuous exercise, heat, alcohol, and blood-thinning agents for 24–48 hours.
- Do not touch or massage the treated area unless instructed to do so.
- Bruising or swelling may occur; using cold compresses may help on the first day.
- Results evolve over days to weeks; follow-up may be needed at 2-4 weeks.
